Mental Health Awareness Week

15th – 21st May 2023

This year’s Mental Health Awareness Week theme is anxiety and here at MHScot we are focusing on ‘Anxiety in the Workplace’.

They are lots of reasons why people face anxiety in the workplace, here are just a few of them:

➡️  Unclear expectations and lack of direction: Workplace anxiety often comes from not knowing what is expected of you and feeling like you are not meeting those expectations.

➡️  Feeling overwhelmed or inadequate: When faced with tight deadlines and intense workloads, a lack of confidence can set in and cause anxiety.

➡️  Fear of failure or success: People may fear criticism of their work or be uncertain about their ability to handle increased responsibility.

➡️  Stress of competition: The pressure to be the best can be overwhelming and lead to feelings of inadequacy and defeat.

➡️  Pressure to perform: The work environment can be highly competitive, putting excessive pressure on workers to succeed.

➡️  Poor management/communication: When management is unsupportive or unclear on their expectations, employees can feel stressed and anxious.

➡️  Lack of work/life balance: When work interferes with personal time, people may feel overwhelmed and unable to cope.

We have created a range of Social Media graphics that you are welcome to download and share across your social media platforms this Mental Health Awareness Week to help raise awareness of the anxiety people are facing in the workplace. Anxiety isn’t something you should be ashamed of.
