Booking Procedure for our Public Open Courses

First Aid for Mental Health – Level 2 is the only open public course available for booking, all our other courses are run in-house.

Payment

Open Courses

  • Payment must be received within 14 days of the invoice date or in advance of the course, whichever is the sooner and regardless of booking date.

What’s Included on Courses

  • Access to our user-friendly online learning system. This is where you can track your progress and access all the resources, videos, useful links, quizzes and reflective study elements of the course.
  • Additional content that complements the qualification with supplementary resources, links for further reading, lots of signposting information, a discussion forum and more!
  • Live online classes with a qualified facilitator
  • A First Aid for Mental Health manual
  • A digital certificate
  • Lifetime access to a large digital library of resources

Cancelling Open Courses and Refunds

Open Courses

  • If you notify us via email up to 28 days before the start date of a course and you have paid, you will receive a full refund less an administration fee of 20% of the course fee.
  • If you notify us via email up to 28 days before the start date of a course and you haven’t yet paid there is no additional fee.
  • If you withdraw for whatever reason within the 28-day period, the full fee will remain payable even if you are unable to nominate a substitute attendee.
  • Substitutions should be received by us at least 48 hours prior to the course start date.

Refunds

  • Once paid, fees for courses, workshops and other services are non-refundable.

Booking Confirmation for Public Open Courses

  • Courses can be paid for online by Debit/Credit Card, including Company Cards. By choosing this method you will have immediately confirmed and guaranteed your place on the course
  • Organisations who would prefer an invoice with the options to pay online or by BACS/cheque, can book online and click ‘Bank Transfer’ and will be emailed within 1 to 2 weeks of booking. Places will be confirmed and guaranteed once payment has been made.
  • Bookings made less than 28 days prior to the start of the course will require immediate payment.

Late Payment Fee

  • Invoices unpaid after 30 days will be passed onto a debt collection agency and incur a fixed charge of £40, £70 or £100 depending on the size of the invoice (under £1,000, under £10,000, and higher).
  • This is in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Scotland) Regulations 2002.
  • Automatic reminders for overdue invoices are sent 3 days after invoice is due and then every 7 days until day 28.
  • On day 28 an email will be sent informing you that your invoice is being passed onto a debt collection agency.

Non-Attendance on Public Open Courses

  • If you do not attend a course, and you have not previously informed us the full course fee remains payable and non-refundable.

Costs

  • The costs for open courses are always listed on the individual course page on the MHScot website.

Cancellation by MHScot

  • On occasion, unforeseen circumstances may require us to cancel a course. In such circumstances, you will be given as much notice as possible and offered either a free transfer to another course date or a full refund of fees paid – the choices is yours.

Upon booking you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.

We regularly review these Terms and Conditions to make sure that they are as easy to understand as possible. If there is anything that doesn’t make sense, please could you let us know so that we can make amendments.
